From Teacher To Creator

Hi! I’m Denise and I’m here to help upper elementary teachers like you find freedom in teaching again. As a former teacher, I remember all too well the long days of teaching and trying to find time to do all the other teaching responsibilities – while juggling a family! From taking papers home to staying late in the evening planning lessons, it all takes a toll on us and we can easily get overwhelmed and burnt out.

The fact that you are here tells me that you need some help in teaching, and as my husband (who’s a therapist) would say, “it’s okay to need help.” We all struggle at some point and if I can help you reclaim your passion and make teaching easier for you then I’ve done my job.

As a teacher, I struggled finding resources that would fit my classroom needs and my teaching style. So, I began my creating journey by making my own worksheets and lessons for my classroom. I slowly started selling them on Teachers Pay Teachers and that is when Teaching With A Thankful Heart was born.

After becoming pregnant with my second child, my husband and I decided to make the hard decision of me leaving the classroom (if you have kids then you know how expensive daycare is – especially for 2 kids). After I left the classroom, I realized how burned out I was from teaching and all the pressure and responsibilities we carry as teachers. So, I decided I would create resources that I needed when I was teaching to help lighten your load and make your job easier.

A Few Facts About Me:

  • I’m a mom to 2 little boys, who are super active and they definitely keep me on my toes all day long.

  • I love organizing anything and everything! If I didn’t love teaching so much, I’d probably be a professional organizer.

  • I’m a huge bread lover and will eat anything from cornbread to cinnamon rolls and everything in between!
